Net Profit Services through the Years: 2001-2003
December 7th, 20062001 - 2003 consisted of learning, launching, and making some initial progress.
Enjoy history? Here’s a summary of the first few years of our business…. pictures included for your entertainment.
2001 - Learning Stage / Humble Beginnings
I started messing with websites between ‘99-’01 on a very limited basis. I created some really simple and ugly lead generation sites while I worked as an independent marketing associate during college. It turned out that I was making a good portion of my income from online sales, so I continued to experiment and learn more about websites, pay per click marketing, and the like.
The sites displayed below show my very humble beginnings as I experimented with my own sites, and also long before Net Profit Services was even launched.
2002 - Initial Launch
I started offering basic website creation services in 2002, and was quite lucky to get some great clients from the start. Although the Net Profit Services sites were horrible, we created sites that were ‘not too shabby’, at least by 2002 standards.
I’d say that the “jewelry zoom” feature of The Hileman Collection and the Dynamic Loan application of KC Mortgages were the design and development highlights.
2003 - Two steps forward, one step back
The step backwards was the launch of our Version 2.0 design. Honestly, I find it embarassing. Luckily our site had so few visitors I doubt there’s anyone who could even begin to remember how poor the design really was. I’m displaying a partial screenshot, but don’t be surprised when you can’t click it to view a full size image!
2003 brought us one of our favorite clients: Profile Powerboats. Owners (at that time) Randy and Debbie Schultz are marvelous to work with, and we feel the site really met their needs. Using the factory direct pricing as the primary hook, we generated lots of leads for Profile that Debbie (owner) turned into record sales.
Also around this time we developed one of our first dynamic shopping cart for a jewelry website. Although pretty basic, it worked nicely. In fact, We’ve since gone back and customized this same cart for deployment on more than a dozen different sites.
